LKNH Member

Most of you knew Bertie as Ray Chin’s wife, and Ray would probably even say his “better half.” In Ray’s words, Bertie was “one of a kind.” He was blessed for 63 years to have this beautiful lady by his side. Bertie was truly the best representation of the aloha spirit. Her unassuming and friendly nature added a high level of calmness and comfort whenever she was present. Although she had a quiet disposition, her smile was very welcoming, and she never turned down the opportunity to have a chat. She loved to talk about her ‘ohana, including the three wonderful children that she and Ray raised together, and their own beautiful families.

LKNH Member, Past President & Co-founder

Carlton was a longtime LKNH leader and proposed the idea that became the "Aloha Festival". He also reinstated the Hawaiian tradition of giving the host of our club meetings a gift, in the way of an "ohana" plaque design that reflected the host family. Carlton believed very strongly that the future of the club rested with the keiki of club members and would work with them in promoting Hawaiian culture.
